Since any WAV files referenced in Montage M performances must be stored on attached USB media, none of the created links will work when you restore a user backup containing them to another Montage M using different attached USB media, even if that media contains an exact file/folder replica of your source media.
This is because, I believe, the M uses an unique internal volume ID when making these references.
So you'll have to either manually recreate every one of these references on your target, leave your source M USB media in the target M or create an exact image of the source USB (using imagine software) for use in the target. None of these options are ideal. Perhaps I'm overlooking something.
