While exploring my new Genos2, I discovered that Yamaha had included a song example in the Song Player (Red River Valley) which plays on the Genos2 with a style and in the Genos2 display shows the score, chord symbols, and lyrics.
I have some simple fake books with lead sheets that have notes, lyrics, and basic chords. I have scanned these lead sheets, taken the .tiff files into SmartScore Pro 6 (Musitek), run OCR recognition on them, corrected the errors from the recognition within SmartScore Pro 6, and then exported the recognized score as a Music XML file. I then import this MusicXML file into Notation Composer 4 and that program shows a nice score complete with lyrics and chord symbols. When I play the MusicXML file in Composer 4 the chord symbols do not play, but if I left click on the chord symbols, the chords do play correctly. I then export the Music XML file from Composer 4 as a Yamaha midi XG file which is supposed to incorporate the chord symbols and lyrics in the midi file making it a midi XF file. I can then bring this midi file into my Genos2 and in the Song Player when played it shows the lyrics and chord symbols, but my Genos2 is not playing the chord symbols. Thus if I turn on a style and I start playback of the midi file, the melody line plays fine, but the chord symbols do not trigger chord changes in the style. Can anyone help me with what I am doing wrong? I need the chord symbols to be recognized by the Genos2 and impact the style playback, just as Yamaha achieved for their example song, Red River Valley. Thank you for reading. Tom
