I got my M8x from Sweetwater last week and was a little surprised given all their rah-rah about service that it still had the 1.x OS on it. I did the 2.0 upgrade and everything went smoothly, it just took a lot of time due to the size of the update. However, I hadn't started using the board yet so maybe that's why I didn't encounter any glitches.
Since it's brand new for me I don't have a 1.x / 2.x opinion as my first experience is essentially with it as 2.0. It all seems very nice, and given that I've had a Kronos since 2018 it was very easy to get up to speed on it.
My main problem thus far is that I can't seem to stop playing their Hamburg Grand for long enough to explore much else. I do love the Steinway (German Grand) on the Kronos, but this is just head and shoulders beyond it in terms of both tone and dynamics. It's also the best weighted 88 I've ever played. Of course, neither of these has much to do with 2.0, I suppose, so I guess my main contribution to this particular conversation is that the upgrade was painless with no adventures.
