Yamaha MODX and MODX+ Forum • Re: add/edit a drum pattern on existing Perf?

Just picked this up... I don't have MODX in front of me.

I'll try to answer, apologies if I missed the mark.

You already hit on the fact that the Drums are played by Arpeggios.

The easiest way I have discovered to Audition Drum Arpeggios is with the "Rhythm Pattern" button.

This takes you to a dedicated Screen (I think of "Back Office" operations) where you are presented with Drum Kits, and Arpeggios. It's a good "Sand Box" to mess around in, hear the end results, and not be distracted by all the usual Performance Edit periphery.

You can set favourites here.

You can listen to probably hundreds of "Ends", or alter the kits playing them. You can also customise the kits so that "different than programmed" Percussion Instruments are playing the end beats.

The important thing is, you find a Rhythm Pattern that suits and therefore the Arpeggio that suits. If the Arpeggio you found is suitable, you can feed it back into Scenes.

If the original Arpeggio is not exactly to your liking, You can record the Arpeggio MIDI into a DAW, and then Alter it (Notes Played, Timing Played), and then re-record onto the MODX in a MIDI File, and use it to "Create User Arpeggio". Then as above.

I might have missed some detail... but that's the gist of it.
