Okay, this one will probably be pretty silly, but that's never stopped me before...
A common use case with the Montage M is to be playing along the the rest of a song I'm working on in Cubase. I've taken the time to get the input level correct on the M to the audio interface, I balance the overall mix in Cubase and set the level to match the keyboard volume, rock and roll.
Yesterday I sat down to play and I found myself turning down the mix in all the Cubase songs. I didn't want to stop and analyze it because I was trying to get some playing time in, but it was irritating after having spent a lot of time getting it sorted in days prior.
Today I noticed that again the keys were low. After changing the levels yesterday and leaving everything exactly where it was.
Whisky. Tango. Foxtrot.
Then I realized that in putting the stretchy keyboard cover on / off, I inadvertently bumped the master volume knob. Okay, so now I feel stupid, but the M puts out a solid level, so small moves have major consequences. And I can see myself having to stop and futz with the master volume and get the levels just right, again, each and every time I sit down. Because apparently it's very easy to wiggle the master volume in the process of doing the keyboard cover thing.
Okay, so yeah, just be reeeeally careful when doing the keyboard cover, but I'm hoping to find a more bulletproof, not easily screwed up method of dealing with this.
So, how do the professionals handle this?
