Hi there,
I did search, so if this is a very common question that didn't get caught by my search terms, please accept my apologies.
My first synth was a Yamaha DX-21, purchased new with summer job money when I was a young man. I've recently had a Roland Juno-G and bought a Fantom-06 in the fall of 2022. Then, on new year's eve 2023, I bought myself a MODX+. I do really like this board.
I'm having some difficulty with Cubase (Windows), however. I admit I really barely scratched the surface with Cubase before, but now it's becoming a more interesting challenge. I've installed the 2.16 Windows driver, and also MODX Connect 1.2. There is no problem recognizing the synth, and MODX Connect seems to work correctly - whatever it does. This is a direct connection to my computer's USB port.
I am trying to ensure that I have things set correctly. When I open Cubase, I choose one of the now available MODX specific set ups. If I choose one with audio and midi, everything connects. I have followed the Dom Sigalas setup video, and fear that it hops over the setup section for audio very quickly, and that I've screwed it up.
Ultimately, I have a few questions:

Ultimately, I have a few questions:
- How can I get the transport controls working on the MODX+ (just the easy ones like Rec, Play, Stop)? I have tried, and set it to Mackie, but I cannot seem to get this working for the life of me.
- The blank project opens up 8 midi tracks and 8 audio tracks. Do I need to somehow have the midi tracks attached to the specific sounds on my MODX+?
- Using Cubasis previously, I know I set them to "no instrument" - this may be confusing me.
- I have a sound that has four parts - "FM & AN Classic Arps". Do I set each of the sounds for it's own midi and audio channel?
- I am getting used to, and am still EXTREMELY bad at, setting up a performance on the MODX+. I have the above sound saved in a performance to ensure that some parameters (starting position of the ARP, as an example) are set the way I want.
- Do I add second sounds (I want to add a multi-part piano) to this performance?
- If so, how do I do so ensuring that the correct sounds are added? When I've tried this, it seems to be a different piano combination that gets added.
- Do each of these sounds need their own midi channel?
- Do each of these sounds need their own audio channel?
Thank you in advance for patience, understanding, and any help you can provide.
