If I bought something this expensive and felt that it was damaged, defective or in any way not representative of what a normal new product would be, I would return it for exchange in a heartbeat.
I think the main thing would be determining if this sort of cosmetic defect is consistent across all new units. If so, then there's no point in returning it. At that point, the only decision would be whether or not to return it and buy a different keyboard (e.g. Fantom, Nautilus, etc.) if you decided that it was something you couldn't live with.
