The actual circuits need to be redesigned, chips fabricated, and tested. There is no code.

2. it can be physical adders, multipliers and wires. Both are functionally equivalent, but the means of implementation are quite different. The software (#1) can be changed/enhanced and reloaded. In the second case (#2) , the circuit needs to be rewired, possibly adding new components.
Right, so my thinking is that the 2nd SWP70 on the Montage/(M) only has the FM-X engine circuit wired up, but not the AWM2 along with it (as in the case of the MODX+), so there must be more additional circuit rewiring that is possible since it doesn't have all the AWM2 circuit wiring configured.
Perhaps those potentially additional/free circuit wiring could be utilized on the same SWP70 as the FM-X engine resides..!?

I don't pretend to know how many wires/circuits are available on an SWP70, but just as a hypothetical example let's say there are a total of 64, and on the MODX+ they used 32 of them for the AWM2 and the other 32 for FM-X. So now that 2nd SWP70 on the Montage/(M) would currently be utilizing 32 wires/circuits for FM-X and the other 32 are unused at the moment. If this were the case, couldn't they take that other 32 and rewire them & add some new components to be utilized for additional FM-X (AFM) functionality..?

If this is at all possible, could it potentially be the case that they have already rewired those additional 32 on the 2nd SWP70 (prior to initial release of the Montage M) & added the new components, but they just haven't completed the OS programming piece to make the new functionality work yet!?
