Blake Angelos mentioned this coming soon as part of the Yamaha's 50th Synth Anniversary(The missing Chapter 7 here)You know they are working on a new "MO" version of the Montage M to replace the MODX(+).
It will be interesting to see what it has. I think it would be a miss to not include the AN-X, but perhaps they will design something that doesn't have a new Processor like in the 'M' and therefore doesn't have the AN-X engine or anything that utlizes that processor..!? It think that would be a big mistake, as many of the new Performances would not be on the new "MO" MODX+ replacement.
I think they would be best to figure out a way to add the new processor and provide the AN-X at reduced polyphony from the 'M' (8 or 12 notes), and also have a single SWP70 like in the MODX(+). Keep the AWM2 and FM-X polyphony & memory the same as it is on the MODX+, but provide all the Preset waveforms & Performances that are on the 'M', as well as the new Effects, Organ features/effects/etc. And have the same User memory as is on the MODX+.
I don't see how they could get around the processor and not provide the AN-X or other effects/features that utilize it. Just adding the new AWM2 preset waveforms & Performances would not be enough IMHO
They'll no doublt up the price by a couple of 100 to account for the added processor, but I think the sales would offset that, as I think most would pay the extra to get the AN-X, etc. on a mid tier synth!
