Having both keyboards (Genos2 & Pa5x) Pa for 3 months and still learning how thing work on it . After more than 20 years playing on all Yamaha flagships I decided to get a Korg just for the experience and I want to know why the Korg player's stick at the Korg and how it is in comparison with the Genos 2 .that the Pa is better build and has a better touch and keys is obvious .
The most important is how does the keyboard feels and sounding to your taste , and for now I can say that there is a big difference in both keyboards depending the music style you prefer to play, for rock and pop the Pa is sounding much more like a live band ( in which I have played for years) , electric guitars and effects are a big level up compared with the Genos2 , Drums sound is easier to place in the mix , on the Genos you need a lot of mixing to get the same result.
The Genos2 is in my opinion the best in ballads and acoustic sounds and also for orchestral it is the best sounding synth on the market, the Ensemble function in the Genos is the best function to get a real classic orchestral in your fingers .
And don’t forget all the free software packs you get from Yamaha , Korg offers nothing at all to upgrade you’re Pa and ther isn’t much to find what you can use for free in the Pa5x.![8)]( "Cool")
I had the plan to use the Pa5 instead the Yamaha YC61 for the drawbar sound , now it seems impossible to use 2 independent drawbar set at one time , so that was a big bummer ( I keep the YC )
I like them both a lot and I am happy that I bought the Pa5x , it is so different than Yamaha and is so much fun to play them both.
My verdict is that they are both great keyboards with so different sound and both have their small problems, but it’s fantastic how the keyboards are developed the past 40 years ,great journey from my JVC KB to these fantastic keyboards.![🎹]()
