I have never tried to remove mine (and it has never fallen off by itself), but I would expect this to be like any other knob, basically held up by friction and/or like a standard potentiometer cap, where the inside is D shaped (does not have to be as it's an endless encoder). So if yours is very easy to remove maybe the plastic is softer or has slightly looser tolerance. But I wouldn't worry about it. You can also get it as a spare part.
I would not put adhesive to it as it would then make actual servicing way more difficult. Maybe a tiny piece of paper insert to make it a more tight fit. A hack from the old days!
