Yamaha does not generally perform audio processing on generic CPUs but on their own custom chips (like SWP70). The CPUs are mostly there to run the interface, display, keybed scanning and so on. These CPUs are most of the time not powerful enough to perform all the function of TOTL arrangers/synths by themselves anyway.Does that mean that SX600 sound chip is better than SX900/920?
It looks though Montage M has the AN-X engine running on the 'main' CPU. But this is only a 16 voice polyphonic one.
