In the end it all depends on how serious you are with the instrument, what is your current level and future expectations and so on.
For example an $800 guitar may make a lot of sense to an intermediate level guitarist but less so on a beginner. By the time you advance to another level, you may also have different ideas on what you want from your guitar so even the $800 one might not be good enough.
I play keyboards but had zero experience on guitars. I bought a 112 few months ago and for me, it's perfect. Spending more than that would be a waste for me.
