My story is similar to sonic2000gr's in that I too used Cubase back in the day when I had my Atari ST (I guess it was Cubase "1" but there was no "1") for MIDI sequencing along with my Yamaha PSR keyboard.
Fast-forward to today (and after a gap of many decades with no DAW at all) and now I have Cubase 13 Pro trying to drive a Montage M8x.
It was simple back then, and it definitely isn't simple now ... but I am persevering and like Sonic diving into the manual a lot. I agree, it has become massively bloated, and it takes seems to take forever to figure out how to do even the simplest of things. This isn't helped by the fact that I only occasionally "dip into" my DAW and when I do I find that something has broken and I have to fix it which is really annoying when you just wanted to do a quick record of something.
