I had to revive this post to update that I purchased the Easy Sounds Spectral Move Library and it’s outrageously good. It costs a bit, but there is so much content that I’ll be kept busy and entertained for a long time. While there are Performances to fit many styles, the Arps, Splits and Mixes will leave a Tangerine Dream fan with a big smile. Also, Pink Floyd and most Prog, Ambient, 70’s Electronica, etc.. Honestly I have just scratched the surface so far.
Another great thing is the gain staging and leveling is above anything I’ve heard so far. Especially the factory presets which I consider to be rather blah compared to what those that know how to squeeze everything out of this machine can manage.
Soap box on:
Personally, I think Covid and the Lockdown had a major adverse effect on the development and probably what would have been the “final bringing together of the different development stages” when all that BS started. The Japanese have always been very clean oriented for a lack of a better word and I can imagine the “pandemic” really freaked them out. Things probably sat completely untouched for a long time. Then as things softened and they couldn’t delay any longer they rushed what is an important stage of development. All stages are important, but the tying up loose ends is just as critical. It’s my wish…hope…belief…that there will be very nice software updates coming down the road. If not, then that will be a disappointment.
Soap Box off:
Anyway back to sound…this is using the Main balanced outs into a pair of QSC K12.2. I can’t turn the keyboard main volume knob past 1/2 based on how the speaker levels are set for other pro gear without hitting the “threshold of pain”. Yet there is no digital clipping or any unwanted distortion. I have no experience with the classic Montage, but I don’t believe comparing factory performance to factory performance is the proper way to thoroughly test the sonic capabilities of the Montage M. Just my opinion. I also understand there’s more to great sound than loudness.
Anyway, if you’re needing some inspiration or thinking the Montage M is lacking check out this Library. Or maybe one of the other specific Montage M packs are more appropriate. I feel confident they will be just as excellent.

Oh and I definitely have no self interest with the company. I’m a nobody…![🐥]()
