Hello Hans,I just love those Latin America rhythms...
How can I use the guitar mode in the style creator?, such as: creating dynamic guitar rhythms with strumming and muting the strings by hand.![]()
I don't know if you're familiar with how Guitar mode works... because Manual is absolutely of no help in this regard.
The thing is, when we record notes sequence in Guitar mode, we don't record the notes that we will later hear when the style is running.
That is, at recording, we are actually playing guitar strings on keybed (not notes). When I say "strings", I mean strings as they sound on guitar: E-A-D-G-B-E (imagine strum without using left hand on guitar). The problem is, we don't use E-A-D-G-B-E keys on keybed when we record in Guitar mode.
I think it's impossible to explain without showing... In short, what we're recording is actually only strum rhythm without using left hand.
Technically, the same result can be achieved by using normal (Root Fixed & Root Transpose) mode: in this case we do hear recorded chord as it will sound later. But in this case, it's kind of hard to record the strumming on keybed.. a chord can exceed the octave and so we might need both hands for a single strum -and that's one of the reasons why Guitar mode exists.
And finally, for that "joropo" rhythm, you definitely need to use MegaVoice guitar for muting every third stroke (see SX700 DataList, p.21).
I know that I didn't answer your question... Guitar mode isn't really that complicated as it looks from what I just wrote, but one definitely need to see how to use it. How did I learn? By spending many hours to study it -yeah, I'm that crazy![]()

Hello BogdanH, thank you very much for your response.
I will take your advice.
I'm going to study the MegaVoices map from the SX700 data list, and work on the joropo rhythm until it sounds decent.
