Yamaha Montage and Montage M Forum • Steinway clinky low notes

Hey, guys.

I noticed this as soon as I got the M8x but never remember to post the question. There are some low notes on the Steinway that have a distinct high pitched "clink" to them when played at moderate to higher velocities. I don't believe it to be a defect in the Montage, I think that's just the way they got sampled. Every piano is different, and with 88 notes I'm sure there's always a problem child somewhere.

I've been wondering if there's a way to tame that clink on the offending notes. They've done a wonderful job with all the multi samples, and I thought maybe that clink was in a velocity-ranged element that might be dialed back a bit to balance out the tone with the other notes.

That said, we're getting into an area of tweaking where I just don't know what I'm doing, so I'm loathe to screw around with what's an otherwise great sounding piano. I know I can just save it off to a new preset so it's not like I'm going to break anything, but unless I understand what to do it's largely a waste of time.

If you're experienced with tweaking pianos at this level I'd be grateful for any thoughts you might have. I love the Steinway but man, some of these notes just jump out at you, and not in a good way.
