Most of that makes sense. It was definitely the Var slot that had this super aggressive chorus. Probably something I set while experimenting. Honestly, I don't think I have a thorough understanding of all the features and implications of setting them (eg. what settings apply across performances vs are isolated to the performance) but it's reassuring to see that the interface design is good enough that I can find my way through it.The Montage M has two effects per part (aka "Insertion Effects") and 4 performance effects that are common to all parts. The latter consists of two send effects (aka "Reverb" and "Variation") and two bus effects (aka "Master EQ" and "Master Effect"). Each part has send levels for the two send effects.
When you import a part into an existing performance, then it will not change the common effects. However, it will import the send levels to the common send effects.
I assume the following happens in your specific example: The CFX Concert performance uses two reverb effects in the Reverb and Variation slots, and the part sends to both reverb and variation. The init performance uses instead a chorus effect as Variation effect. When you import the CFX Concert, it imports the part send levels.
This issue is not specific to the Montage M. Its predecessors would behave the same.
This is good info, it'll probably make better sense holistically as I get to know this thing better. The first week(s) are always fun/challenging. Thanks for the explanation.
