I'm currently using ESP with a MIDI keyboard at my lake home for practice so I don't have to lug the actual instrument around. It's been a struggle to get it working well enough to be useful but I've managed (just).Hello everyone
For some time I have been thinking of buying an m8 montage.. I own numerous keyboards including several Yamaha.. Unfortunately I have been suffering from major back problems for a few years and carrying around my equipment for live shows has become prohibitive for me..
Lately I use a Numa Xpiano as a master since it is an excellent compromise between playability and weight connected to another keyboard via Camelot pro.
I have different sound material built over the years on the various Yamaha workstations starting from the ex5 that I still own, passing through the motif series of which I still use an XF7 with mutec flash that doubles my capacity.
The compatibility with my sound libraries makes the choice towards the Montage almost mandatory even if the price is not exactly small.. (I'm waiting to find a used one in good condition)
The Montage would still stay at home, being able to use the ESP version.
Looking for information on the net I seem to have understood that the ESP version would not respond to Program chenge commands sent via midi.. Is this aspect correct?
Was it only about the beta version or is it a lack still present on the release recently?
I don't have the opportunity to verify it as I don't own the Montage yet but it is obvious that if this were true it would make the use of the ESP version useless and consequently also the purchase of the montage.
Could some kind owner of the Montage M kindly give me information on this subject?
Thank you very much for your attention
Ciao
You're correct, as far as I've seen, program changes aren't implemented yet. Also the ability to easily change scenes is difficult due to the crowded interface design. And the amount of overhead it uses will tax all but the fastest of laptops. I'm using what used to be a state of the art Intel I7 based HP Spectre laptop running Windows 11 and even after a full optimization it still hiccups during a few performances with background audio playing in Cubase13.
I'm certain they'll fix the overhead issue and add more functionality in future releases but right now it's struggling to stay afloat.
