Hello Mates!

Long time lurker, first post.

Hope this post isn’t considered to be sacrilegious!!

I’ve been playing my MX49 in a blues band and have been using Hammond organ patches on it with great results. The thing is I don’t love the key bed so I play most patches on an MAudio 61 board that has full-size waterfall keys. The MX stays in the keyboard stand for horn parts and synthy patch stuff. As time goes on I find myself playing it less and less because of the keybed and since I own two (a blue and a black) I’ve been considering trying to de-case it and building it into a rack mount. There’s a YT video of a coffee spill cleanup and it looks like there are two mother/daughter boards that each would be narrow enough to fit in a rack enclosure. I’m handy and not afraid of trying but if there is knowledge from those who have gone before I’m open to advice.

Pic attached with my setup. The MX49 is the middle board. There’s enough space in the gutted Hammond cabinet (don’t worry, I saved it from the landfill and it didn’t work at all, plus there are several well-cared for Hammond in my collection) that I could even install it inside but I’d prefer access to the buttons and there are gigs that the Hammond cabinet is not worth taking to so a rack option is preferable.

Anyone try this?

Merry Christmas, y’all!!
