Yamaha PSR-SX Forum • USB flash drives formatted by keyboard, and windows 11

I decided to do my upgrade of the SX720 tonight, I'd not done an upgrade on a keyboard before so followed the instructions from Yamaha. So I got out my USB drive, made sure it was empty, formatted it on on the keyboard. Copied the extracted *.PRG file to the USB drive... and it met an error during the copy and the USB drive E: disappeared.
OK, so I unplugged it, plugged it and again copied the file to the USB. Same thing happened, and at the same stage. I tried a third time, same thing. Then I got another drive, formatted it on the keyboard and repeated the steps, the same thing happened. I'm patient, I downloaded the file newly in case that was the issue, but no, same result. I tried again and again using 4 different (reliable) drives with the same result until I formatted one on the computer, copied the file and my update was done in no time.

Windows 11 is pretty new to me but so far its USB is behaving, why are they so adamant in the instructions to format on the keyboard? I won't be doing that again

p.s. I've been using USB drives formatted both on the keyboard and on the computer with the 720 with no issues the past couple of months, it's pretty odd behaviour really.
