What he said. Your mileage may vary.Yes... some... depends...,...I have a question about the auto accompaniment. Are they suitable to play rock and electronic music, say from the 80's to today?
But:Unfortunately the "arranger" category have a bad reputation to sound a little bit cheesy.
Totally agree with Bogdan. Your mileage will vary depending upon the specific style.
The latest 80s styles are decent mainly for the specific songs they are designed to emulate. Genos 1, in particular, had some real 80s electro-pop fans making the styles.
The soul and R&B styles sound more pleasing to my ears. The latest R&B styles for Genos 2 are hot, well-played. Look for conversions.
For a more "off the recording" sound, I go with MIDI tracks or even some MP3/WAV commercial backing tracks. It takes away the opportunity for musical interpretation, but sometimes OCD takes over.
Here's my take on the 80sAnalogBallad style that's a preset on the sx720 in the Rock&Retro Pop category, (same style has been around since the T4). I didn't modify the style at all.
Not in the same category, but this version of the sciFI march is in the sx720 as well, my take on it, also unmodified for BTTF (not the same as the G2 version, which is why I'm sharing my attempt on G1)
Note: If you find either of these cheesy, you'll likely still find arrangers cheesy. I make a conscious effort to not sound cheesy.
Also sounds really good to my ears in the sx720: 60sSuperGroup (I Wanna Hold Your Hand), 80sMosnterHit (Shout), 80sSynthPop (Don't You want me), EdgyRock (Where the Streets Have no Name)
If you're ok with slightly modified styles, my Raiders Theme is also *barely* modified from the same sci fi march as BTTW, My Castle on the Hill cover is actually only a slightly modified EdgyRock style, and my Star Trek TNG cover uses the MovieSountrack style comepletely unmodified.
