I'm not sure I understand just how you have everything configured.

Please provide a list of the components you are using and ALL cabling/connections between them.

Is this the entire list: Ipad, Nord, Modx?

Based on what you described you would connect the Ipad to the Nord and the Nord to the Modx.
Why do you need bluetooth connection between the Nord and Modx if a cable works?

That suggests you have a Modx 'OUT' port connected to a Nord 'IN' port. If that is true why are you doing that?

but want to play both boards independanlty as well as somestimes having both play when playing the Nord.

Doesn't that mean you do NOT need to have a Modx 'OUT' connected to a Nord 'IN'?

The loopback problem goes away when I turn off local control but then I cannot play the MODX by itself.

Same question - sounds like you need to get rid of the Modx -> Nord connection.

NOTE: When playing the Nord I need to be able to play Live sets

Please clarify - I'm assuming that means the Nord needs to send PC messages to the Modx but the Modx still has no need to send anything to the Nord?

Need Bluetooth as I will be sending patch changes from an IPAD

But aren't you sending those patch changes to the Nord? And then the Nord will send to the Modx?

Clearly I'm missing something.
