I always chortle, snort, whatever, when a new distortion pedal is announced.Your question is like asking the question that if there has been no innovation in guitars for decades, why do people still want to replace them?
The sound they make of course!

G2 is ripe for a major update release. Let's hope that it is "major", not just bumping the release number from 1.0 up to 2.0.re: Genos 2 -- I take that as a good news, no matter what the reason was. From users perspective however, there are only new voices and effects. If we forget the possibility of different time signature for each style variation, then nothing has changed in accompaniment department. Here the competition is way ahead, in my opinion.
There is more headroom in the Montage M line, too.
Still, Yamaha was notably quiet -- just SEQTRAK from NAMM 2024? There are aspects of SEQTRAK that I really like, e.g., the SEQTRAK app. Wish the app would let me edit Reface DX voices.
