Well, I'm using my fingers when I play, find it difficult to play chords by use of the ears....I only play by ear and I don't consider myself as gifted or talented because of that.

As you, I mostly play by ear, but I can struggle the way through simple notation sheets if I take time to do so.
I like to use lyrics with the chords above such as i.ex. C-Am-Dm7 etc... as in many "fake books", and if the melody notation line is added, it's nice as a guide too.
Yes, sharing thoughts is great. It's what we all does, isn't it?
