Yamaha DG Series • Re: Potential DG80 purchase in 2025 ~ so many questions.

I would guess that a new battery would be advisable so can anyone tell which battery the DG80 takes?
It is lithium standard CR2450.
Obviously the amp chassis will have to be removed from the cabinet in order to replace the battery but I've read on this forum that unless the battery is changed really quickly all the settings can be lost, I've also read here that the amp could be left powered on when carrying out this task but that really doesn't sound at all safe. Could someone please let me know the best way to change the battery, preferably without losing all the data or my life?
If you want to do the software upgrade the user memory will be lost anyway!
On another old forum post, someone was selling a DG80 along with an Edirol UM-1SX which they said works perfectly with the amp so is this correct? I have spotted an Edirol UM-1SX for sale so could anyone please confirm whether this unit will successfully carry out the file transfer without bricking the amp?
As far as I know the UM1-SX uses the same chips and drivers as The UM1-EX. The only difference is the housing and conectors.
If indeed the The Edirol UM-1SX is capable of executing file transfers to the DG80 I notice that the drivers provided for it only go up to Windows 8.1. My problem is that my PC is running Windows 10 so does anyone know if using the Edirol UM-1SX is even possible or am I entering the territory of forgetting the whole idea of getting another DG80?
The driver should load automatically if you plug in the midi interface. Anyway, you can download it here for Win 10/11:

If using the Edirol is possible and supposing that I accidentally wipe the entire memory of the amp does the upgrade file bring it back to life by installing everything or does it just overlay the 'chorus and tremolo' functions on an already operational memory. I guess what I'm asking here is if I accidentally turn my DG80 into a house brick what would I need to do to resuscitate it or is this even possible?
I can confirm that all kind of bricked amps got resurrected by MDF3 or UM1 on Windows XP (even in a virtual machine). So if it fails you have to borrow one of them....
