I wonder where my piano teachers in the past got the idea from? I'll never know.
Whilst I have never seen keyboards with white notes only, I agree with Rara. I would also recommend the following video, which goes back much further than Baroque and gives a fascinating insight into how it is believed that the first two black notes originated.
Perhaps what was explained in the video was where there idea came from,
a misinterpretation of an explanation like this.
So, for thirty odd years I have been misled by a misunderstanding.
Although I have searched internet in the past years ago for info on this, many other people had
the same idea. Was it a music theory Mandela effect? Possibly it was.
