That is NOT how pedals work on Yamaha performance synthesizers (and most other keyboards that I am familiar with).

I just noticed that there seems to be (at least) one exception: If the foot controller is mapped to the SuperKnob (on the MODX), then it has a catch behavior. When mapped to a CC, then it jumps to the absolute position as soon as a change is detected.
