As there are many members of this forum who have registered using a gmail account, this is something that really cannot be ignored. If a hacker gains access to your gmail they will also have access to your forum account!

With over 3 billion people relying on Gmail as their primary platform, a new wave of cyberattacks is exploiting users' trust by impersonating Google itself. This highly sophisticated method uses artificial intelligence and automated password-hacking tools, making the threat more dangerous than ever.

While Google is actively enhancing its security measures to combat these attacks, the risk persists. Losing access to your account can expose sensitive data and disrupt your digital life. In fact, Google allows only seven days to reclaim your account if it is compromised in one of these attacks.

Don't wait for the worst to happen. Stay informed, be vigilant, and take proactive steps to secure your email today. For a deeper understanding of this ongoing threat and practical advice on how to protect yourself, check out the original article here:

Thank you Saul, that is a sobering read. Diving further into other Forbes articles, I am inclined to put all my money under the mattress, ditch email and the web and start writing old fashioned letters again. Visiting the library encyclopedia to replace the web. Scary stuff those articles.

So passkeys it is then for some but there are many sites that don't support that and still use 2FA like banks, IRD, etc

And another Forbes article says the crims can now bypass 2FA via obtained cookies.
