Hey Jeff

Mary has been trying to convince me to start learning to read music but I'm pretty stubborn to say the least!! At my age (nearly 79 soon) do I really want to learn a new playing method? I do play (often not that well) by ear so I can tackle a tune that I know with often no errors so do I really want to go back to square one and learn music notation and how to apply it to the actual keys ...will it actually make my playing not really better but will it make me sound better. Playing by ear means I can put more expression into the song rather than maintain accuracy!! What do you think and what direction are you planning to take???

Chris
I'm only doing this because while I can read music I can't do what you do, play by ear, and I'm jealous
I don't actually think being able to read music makes you better, not worse either, but it does open a world where you can try pieces you can't figure by ear. It does give me that. I do enjoy the theory though, but that doesn't need note reading.

So I am trying to learn to play better by ear, improvise, as well as improve my left hand piano, while at the same time learn my keyboard features. I am a forever learner, by choice... and it's good.

But Chris, you said it first, you know you want to!! I am merely the voice of encouragement, your cheerleader :happy-cheerleaderkid:
