If I understand you correctly, then this sounds like an issue between the iPad and the Surface Pro 8. I guess the issue is related to USB host vs device. With USB, one side needs to act as USB host and the other side as USB device. As far as I know, iPads support MIDI-over-USB only when acting as USB host. And similarly, most PCs can only act as USB host, and not as USB device. I would not be surprised if it is the same for the Surface Pro.Trying to get an ipad to send midi info to a Surface Pro 8 to trigger modx patch changes.
Windows reccognizes theres an IPad hooked up but the program Midi Pad and OnSong midi information is not being transmitted. i have an Midi-OX monitoring incoming midi data and get nothing.. Any suggestions. Using a starndard lighting to USB cable.
It would be good to check if that is the case. If so, then there are alternatives. An inexpensive alternative is to get a USB to MIDI interface (starting at around 15 USD), and connecting one of the two devices directly to the MIDI ports of the MODX.
