The FG800 is certainly a good guitar, regardless of whether you are starting out or just looking for a good quality, great sounding guitar on a budget.
The APX is ok but it does not project as well acoustically. So it depends on what your needs are.
What sort of music do you want to play? Some guitars are better suited to one type of music than others.
