I recently decided to obtain an expression pedal. The generic pedals were cheaper than the Yamaha FC7, so I decided to take a gamble and try the M-Audio EX-P after seeing a post that confirmed compatibility with the MODX.
The pedal works 100% with an MX61 when the polarity switch is in the "Other" direction. I configured FC1 to adjust the Volume parameter and confirmed on the display that volume goes from 0 to 127 as the pedal is moved throughout the range. I also confirmed that the midi output goes from 0 to 127 as the pedal is depressed across the range when connected to a DAW. The action felt very linear across the range.
Some other related info: You can configure the expression pedal to adjust sustain when the EX-P is plugged into the Foot Controller input, and then pushing the pedal all the way forwards will set the sustain to maximum. If you however try to plug the EX-P into the Sustain input, the action is reversed and you get maximum sustain when the pedal is all the way back. I assumed that adjusting the polarity switch will change the direction of the pedal, but it does not. The direction of the action stays the same (forwards = maximum expression), but the effected range is smaller 0-116 if I recall correctly, and it felt like it reached zero before the pedal was all the way back.
