Not a good time for losing understated but iconic keyboard players. Last week Mike Pinder; this week Richard Tandy of ELO fame.
Few will have heard of Richard as ELO was always driven by Jeff Lynne and seen as his band, and the keys in ELO were always pretty always much in the background, with few leads, but I could not imagine ELO without the keys.
I still rate Out of the Blue as the only (non concept) double album that is consistently strong from start to finish with no filler or you thinking it would have been better as a single album. It is essential summer listening, so I hope our summer gets going soon!
