Okay, crickets, I get it. At the risk of boring you further, I bought a generic FORE MIDI/USB interface cord and plugged it in. It didn't come with a manual, but, if any of you are familiar with this product, the red light is on all of the time and the blue light flashes like a strobe constantly while the SY85 is turned on. I downloaded a trial (free) version of FL Studio. Neither the interface nor FL Studio come with any manuals that I can find, but I can find a bunch of YouTube tutorials for FL Studio, all of which just neglect the question of how the SY85 actually works with FL Studio, at least from what I have seen so far. The only indication that the interface might be working is the fact that the name of any key I press on the SY85 shows up in the FL Studio "(trial) Hint Panel." The same thing happens when I hit a key on the laptop keyboard. The MIDI settings window shows only the generic MIDI interface with no ports identified. Back to kindergarten, what is my next step here? Is there a manual I can buy or download that will help me with these basics. I'm generally not stupid about computers. I programmed and maintained a system that kept track of clients, communications, bookkeeping, etc., for a business for over 30 years in my former life, but this is Martian to me. Thanks very much for any guidance from any source.
