-because they are sampled. Yamaha arrangers can't generate sound (except DX voices on Genos2). There's absolutely nothing wrong if voices are sample based. It can be of advantage actually, because we can hear how "a real" instrument sounds (including instrument's imperfections)....All digital pianos sound like sampled pianos....
The only question is at what conditions samples have been taken (room acoustics, equipment), how many notes, how many velocities, etc., and what kind of post-processing has been done on samples. There's more, but that's enough to get an impression.
Btw. Just an interesting fact... already mentioned Garritan CFX piano VST has 100+GB (yes, GigaBytes) of samples!
