Don't Get Me Started! • Re: The Real reason why Music is getting WORSE . . . .

I guess that "bad way" or that system bought us music on a silver platter and really forced bands and artists to compete for the fortune and fame of the day and time.

They had to really fight for their right to party! :D

All that extreme pressure created many, many diamonds and the more diamonds that came the more artists wanted to get their fair share.

Like a juicer it caused the juices of creativity & production to flow. From heavy metal, big hair bands, old rock/new rock, soft, pop stuff like The News, Police, Hall & Oats, Prince, Billy Joel, Billy Idol and even a Funk movement, Sade was incredible, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi etc. I just think this stuff will never be seen again.

It probably caught us all at that most impressionable and significant time of our lives and so was it just because of that or was it really that special?

I suppose today's Swifty teens might not give it a second thought but I think they really missed out. Taylor Swift in the 80s would have just been another of many and her music would have been a lot better I'll bet. Nobody will be playing her stuff 40 years from now like the Eagles or ELO. Madonna is actually better not meaning talent wise. How great was Alanis Morissette back then?

At 55 I just play my own stuff and will probably never go search for a group or new artist I'll just keep living in the past where I'm happiest. I suppose that happens to us all at some point we turn off the spigot.

I've got about 26 Christmas tunes I'm playing on Trumpet around the area this December. Remember when people used to go caroling? I have full backing tracks and a massive JVC party box on a hand truck with MPE and a music book. It's my first time attempting this so I hope there are no scrooges around. That's my first and only record from 1980 below literally on vinyl. I was 12 and pretty terrible.

Think about how timeless are Christmas tunes it's probably my favorite to play. I'd say this is a bucket list item to go play on the street and see what happens.
