Chill Out Room • Re: Our keyboards from yesteryear (Yamaha and others)

... I am always looking to the future and that inevitably leads to disappointment :(
I think there are two opposite angles of how we look at that...
First one is: the capability (and also the sound) of today's keyboards is just mind-blowing. Depending on my skill, I can actually sound like an average real band. And not to mention the endless creative possibilities... all that really amazes me.

The second view is (also yours, I guess): if we're looking from "real" acoustic instruments perspective.. if we know how real instruments actually sound, then there's many times a disappointment. Let me explain:

In my country accordeon is quite popular and is actually the main instrument in folk music. Btw. I was learning playing accordeon when I was about 12yeas old. What I'm saying is, that I have heard accordeon live countless of times in my life. I do know how diatonic accordeon sounds and I know "the power" of that sound. Then I select accordeon voice on my keyboard and I say to myself: what a joke, is not even close to a real thing.
And so we start looking after next keyboard and hope it will be better... not perfect, just better.
