There are many ways to do create side-chain effects on the MODX.
You can use an arpeggio, which are easier to control than motion sequences. You can find some information in viewtopic.php?p=124311.
You can use the envelope follower with an internal part instead of an audio signal. The computer would send note-on/off events to the MODX, basically mimicking the click. This will trigger a part on the MODX that generates an (internal) audio signal. The envelope parameters on the MODX can be used to shape the sound. The generated sound will not be send to the outputs, however, can be used to control the envelope follower for other parts.
