Or plate shifting pushed the bottom of the ocean up and made it a mountain instead. Or the bible flood, if you believe that story, could have moved a lot of stuff around and that's wasn't too long ago. According to that story it had never once rained from the sky. Water came up from the ground instead and watered everything which probably was a tropical climate. IF water came up from the ground, I envision a misting then lots of places could have been very lush and green even the now desert. When that ended is when rain clouds became a thing and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights so nothing was prepared for that type flooding. Whatever happened no one knows exactly. IF you remove all supernatural possibilities then only science remains to answer the whys.
Were the earth inhabitants doing evil continually, no possibility of redemption or any justice for anyone. Obviously total corruption think drugs, sex, crime and drunkenness all day everyday. Angels (the bad ones) were having sex with humans it was total insanity and creating giants. Sounds like a movie I know but that's what it says. God made an intervention and changed the climate forever and Noah and his family were the only survivors. I'm sure the earth was rearranged in some big ways if true especially during the subsiding. If science says only "X" amount of water exists on earth then how was there a flood over all the lands since water self-levels? It had to be relocated temporally over the lands and then return again back to where it came from. That's a lot of surface erosion.
The bible also tells how the earth will be destroyed (not sure that means literally gone in mass) and a new earth created. Nuclear war will certainly kill us all but probably not destroy the earth. Would God perform another intervention if humans were about to destroy everything? I don't want to test that theory.![:D]( "Very Happy")
I'll admit I do not know. The new earth will have no more oceans or seas so if the earth mass & surface area remains the same that's a lot more land mass to live on.
