I got a mini pc Ryzen 7 Windows 11 pro and it installed no problem.Wanted to try out the new ESP but don't use a DAW. Unfortunately the ESP release isn't standalone.
So I downloaded and installed the free Cubase LE AI Elements 13 and the new ESP on Windows 10. But the ESP doesn't show up in the 'VST Plug-in Manager' no matter where I put the.vst3 folder or file. User has full admin rights but is NOT the root/administrator user.
1. c:\program files\Common files\VST3 - this is where the ESP installed itself
2. c:\program files (x86)\Common files \VST3 - this is where the Steinberg docs say all VST3 plug-ins should go
3. c:\program files\Steinberg\Cubase LE AI Elements 13\VST3 - this path is where Cubase installed itself
The cubase plug-in manager window that shows plug-in paths is titled 'VST 2 Plug-in Path Settings' which makes me wonder if the free version of cubase doesn't support VST3 plug-ins.
I've added all three paths there with no success.
The one ODD thing is that when I put the .VST3 folder at location 3 and start Cubase I can see at the end that it says it is Initializing ESP. If the ESP VST3 folder is NOT at location 3 the Cubase init process doesn't find and init it even with the paths added that point to where it is.
And it never shows up on the plug-in list for me to use even when it says it initialized the ESP when Cubase started.
Q1 - has the free version of Cubase been updated to support the new ESP?
Q2 - could it be a rights issue? A common user that is configured as an administrator still doesn't have the same privs as the root/administrator.kk
If I just double-click on the Cubase desktop icon it starts loading and then gives a 'No valid License found' message and quits.
But my tests have been done by right-clicking and using 'Run as administrator' and it loads and executes just fine.
