Yamaha Montage and Montage M Forum • Why are so many people already dumping their Yamaha Montage M8x??

It's kind of interesting that a lot of people have decided to sell their Yamaha Montage M8x keyboard already. The Montage M was released on October 10, 2023, so four months in, people that bought the M8x have decided to give them the boot. What gives? From my own perspective, I think some people got tired of lugging the M8x back and forth to gigs, perhaps. When you figure in a quality hard case, you're looking at around 110 lbs potentially. That's one of the reasons I returned my M8x I purchased from Guitar Center. The thing is a beast, and poly AT patches were kind of hard to trigger. There is a rumor going around that Yamaha will release a new CLP series with Poly AT, but those things are even bigger and heavier, but might be preferable for Pianists since they're more like a real grand piano, but more expensive too I might add. Although, they would be strictly for home use and 'set it and forget it' type scenarios, of course. Another thing that could be going on is mainly Pianists are the ones buying the M8x's, and they suddenly realize it's too complicated and time-consuming for their overall needs. You basically need a Master's degree in computer science to be able to figure out how to use the Montage M to its full potential. The Synth/Workstation division at Yamaha is separate from the Arranger keyboard division, but the former who design and implement features and functions for the Synth/Workstations line, probably most of them aren't musicians or keyboard players. They're likely computer geeks who like to tinker with things... and making things very complicated in the process. The Arranger line division has a lot of in house product designers like Martin Harris, etc., who are skilled musicians and keyboardists and therefore the Genos/2 are much easier to operate, navigate and work with as anybody will tell you.
