Greetings.
I just bought a Yamaha MX61 and things are just not right. I can hear the sounds and play but . . . . .
(1) The RHYTHM PATTERN light stays on all the time. Pressing it doesn't change anything. I haven't explored the rhythms yet but this concerns me.
(2) More importantly, the sounds just don't sound right. The pianos are very boomy. The electric pianos and other keyboards sound a little distorted or phazie. They warble a bit. Also, they are often loud in the mid-range but very weak at the lower end. They're just not tamed or something. The acoustic bass doesn't sound acoustic at all. When I watch people on YouTube going through the presets they sound fantastic. What could be wrong?
Before this purchase I was using a BOSS Dr. Synth DS-330 as a sound module so I have something to compare the MX61 to. The BOSS module had nowhere near the number of sounds but fair percentage of them were of high quality.
(3) I was disappointed that the MX61 doesn't play nice with my Roland DP-10 sustain pedal. I shouldn't be surprised.
Can anybody advise me? I am new to fancy keyboards like this one and I am not sure what to do? I've only had it for a week. I can still trade it in for a MODX6--their discounted down to $1350.
Thank you for not making fun of me.
John
P.S. I do like the keybed even though many say it feels cheap. I want lighter keys so I can play faster. Also, hammer-action keys sometimes make my tendinitis flare up.
