For clarification... I don't have a Montage M, but I do know exactly what you are asking.
However, I do have another synth with 4 Outputs.
The main purpose of those 4 Outputs (2x L&R) is to split different Timbres... wherever deemed appropriate. An example might be splitting Percussion from Instruments, or Bass from "The Rest". On my Synth, it isn't engineered for "Surround Sound", it's purely aimed at "treating" certain sounds separately. You will also sometimes see the Outputs labelled Main and Sub, where the Sub allows for bass sounds to be directed to more appropriate speakers (or other processing).
In order for there to be "Surround Sound" (Left, Right × Front & Rear) there needs to be some dedicated process within the Montage M, that effectively outputs "Surround Sound" via all four outputs. Does that exist? In effect this would treat all four outputs as a single set, automatically Panning and Fading around all four to provide the desired effect.
However, based on my experience with the MODX (only two outputs), there is a "Surround Sound" effect, which, if wearing headphones works very well, and to some extent works out of speakers, if room dynamics allow*.
*(I noticed varying depth and desirability depending on where my Synths were set up at home)
The effect on the MODX (and OG Montage) is called "Auto Pan" and is included in the "Tremolo/Rotary" section of effects.
So... it might be worth having a look there because it does have Front/Rear controls. Maybe it has been updated in the Montage M anticipating the use of Four Speakers.
In any case, for 4 Speaker Surround to work, the Montage M must have some facility for Panning/Fading between Output Pairs.
Hopefully this can be quickly identified as a Yes/No answer.
