RIP to Mike Pinder. original keyboard plater of the Moody Bliues who died yesterday

Mike was unusual for the keyboard players in his day in that his major instrument was the Mellotron that gave the Moody Blues their Orchestral sound. Other keyboard players of course used the Mellotron, but that was usually in combination with Hammonds, Moogs, etc. And it was probably Mike's use of the Mellotron (he used to work for Streetly Electronics) that helped to popularise it
I am a bit of a fence sitter with the Moody Blues, they did some absolutely amazing tracks and some pretty awful ones (well, not to my taste) but Mike was instrumental in that lush sound you hear on tracks like Nights in White Satin or "New Horizons" from "Seventh Sojourn" which is my other personal favourite.
