I doubt Yamaha is coming to the midi controller game. This market is already pretty congested by other brands that are now well known and have a massive following.Now I just wish Yamaha would put this exact keybed in a straight-up minimalistic midi controller for less than $1200.
But as far as the keybed of the Montage goes, yes it's really amazing. I have the original Montage (which is AFAIK the same keybed) and it's a real joy to play on. I have a tried other (non top of the line) MIDI keyboards and it looks I can only tolerate the M-Audio Oxygen Pro line and the Novation Launchkey series. Not Montage level but still very playable.
The absolute worst keybeds for me were the Korg Opsix/Wavestate ones (the 3 octave version). The Roland GAIA2 has an amazing keybed though.
