Have you played a SG1820 yet?.
Personally i can't believe you would care about any connection to Airborne once you play one if you like it.
I have one and it's a very good versatile guitar.
I would make sure it is for you, that you like the sound and the way the guitar plays.
I would check you get on with the strap buttons positioning as it does affect how it feels playing standing up.
I have had some issues but after last week's setup it plays as it should.
Pay attention to the nut and any tuning issues.
Also from new mine had 2 high frets and has now had 2 fret dresses as the wood in the neck has caused setup issues.
The sustain is excellent and the tone very good with great consistency across the strings and along the fretboard tone wise.
However a used PRS McCarty would also be a great guitar just like many other guitars out there.
Make sure you try it and get a luthier to look over it when you get it they will add that final bit of playability and attention to detail which often seems to be missing from the factory.
