Hi, I`m now in this situation that i bought a M6 second hand. Luckily from a friend of mine.. No ESP thief.
First of all we BOTH registered the hardware serial. He registered it on the Yamaha US (.com) website and I on the EU website. This should not be possible but it is apparently.. He deleted it today.
Then he deactivated ESP code on Steinberg.net AND download assistent. Deleted the hardware unit registration and looked on Steinberg.net and Yamaha account website for any leftover traces. He even deleted the Cubase AI code. Everything is "clean" from his end. I saw it with my own eyes.
I still cannot download ESP (code already taken message). Steinberg download assistant points me to a Steinberg contact page. I was thinking about the possibility that it's not a matter of deactivation but reactivation and also some communication with Yamaha over transfer of ownership. I cannot find anything about this anywhere, just speculations. I just wait for a day, maybe the deactivation is not instant but takes some time? Who knows? After that, we contact Steinberg and Yamaha.
