I’m assuming it has a fresh new battery installed. Having the noise disappear when moving an EQ slider would suggest a dirty slider. You could try using compressed air and blow out the sliders. If that is unsuccessful then some contact cleaner will help if it’s dirt. Something that could be a coincidence when moving the slider is that it is slightly flexing the PCB and causing a soldered component that is loose to make good contact again and the problem resolve until vibrations or whatever cause it to appear again.

How old is the guitar and/or how much have you used the EQ sliders. In other words could it be wear from use? The sound you describe seems like a high frequency is getting through. This could be from dirt, a worn slider, a failing EQ/preamp circuit. Try the simple first and go from there.
