What 'Tuning' is the instrument set to? You mentioned 4 possible tunings but didn't mention PureMajor/PureMinor, or Equal. Equal is usually the default. While playing it during the initial setup, I noticed a few notes seemed to be ever-so-slightly out of tune
Also when you were 'playing it' what, exactly, were you playing? Which voice?
It is usually 0-99 'cents' from one semitone to another. But it may depend on your tuner.I put my tuner against the keyboard and was surprised to see several notes were as much as + or - 10 (seconds?... Is that the right division?).
Both keyboard and velocity 'scaling' can alter pitch as YOU play up and down the keyboard and as YOU play with different velocities. This variation seems pronounced when transposing the keyboard up or down several steps.
And depending on the underlying waveform you are using there may not be an actual sample for some keys. Tones for those keys are generated by 'stretching' a nearby sample. And stretching can cause some differences also.
The tunings are generally 'PRECISE' but based on the tuning system (those options you mentioned). So I wondered if electronic keyboards should be tuned PRECICELY to the note or if they purposefully allow some slight variation to create the kind of "personality" that acoustic pianos have.
Too lengthy for the forum - I suggest you just look them up online. Can someone explain those choices to me as the manual doesn't go into any detail.
Yes - different tuning types have different 'cent' amounts between notes of the scale.I did notice that when I chose each of those, some of the variations of tuning for individual notes on the keyboard did change.
Correct.I suspect that those choices represent types of common " personality " tunings. Am I mistaken?
See page 103 of the manual where it talks about the 'Tuning' options: Master Tune, Scale Tune, Base Note.
You might consider doing a 'Factory Reset' as discussed on page 91 of the doc. That will make sure it is really using default settings.
Then do your tests. If you still need help please post the details of WHAT you are actually playing and the test you did that shows the problem.
